Colloquial Arabic | Commonly-Used Words & Phrases for Everyday Use | العامية العربية | عبارات شائعة للمحادثة اليومية
The following eLearning resources is a collection of commonly-used words and expressions of colloquial Arabic, which you would encounter in the Arab world. Most of them are the building blocks of everyday conversation, which are needed in most situations.
Try to learn and memorise as many as you can; you can combine them with other words/phrases appropriate to each situation as it arises.
You can study these resources in a variety of formats, namely:
- Read/Listen/eSelf-Assess: Audio interactive eFlashcards (with eSelf-assessment tools)
- Read: Downloadable PDF list (the document is embedded online in its original “printed” layout)
- eSelf-Assess: Interactive online quiz
Call for further colloquial expressions
This is not in anyway an exhaustive list and I am sure that there are many more commonly-used expressions in the different dialects of Arabic. Your suggestions and contributions would be most welcome.

The following eLearning resource is a collection of expressions that Arabs use throughout the Arab world to express thanks and gratitude. The list includes a variety of colloquial and MSA expressions in addition to standard Islamic expressions.
